Andrea Branzi

Branzi’s artistic approach consists of an attempt to connect the industrial world to the poetry of nature, he is also known for his intellectual approach to design. With Dolmen, which is the name of the serie, Andrea Branzi seeks to recover the anthropological value of these objects by going back to their distant roots. Prehistoric megalithic monuments made of large slabs placed on vertical stones, dolmens fascinate by their ritual symbolism and their imposing size. For him, the dolmens are the archaic memory of the first dialogues between man and stone.
In his three works, the artist transposes in miniature the colossal power of these vestiges, while recreating the typical atmosphere of the original places. Each Dolmen, by its beautiful proportions, evokes a slightly mysterious, poetic presence, which recalls the magic of these ancient sacred sites.
Architect and designer Andrea Branzi was born in Florence, Italy in 1938. Today he lives and works in Milan. From 1964 to 1974 he was a partner in the internationally renowned design studio Archizoom Associati, whose projects are now in the Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione in Parma and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris.
